The first ever 'Haunted Heritage Day' at Dilston Castle, near Corbridge in Northumberland is taking place on Saturday 21st August 2010.  The aim of the Day is to bring together all elements of Dilston's somewhat colourful and often tragic past:  the site's history, recent archaeological finds and of course its ample ghostlore.  All proceeds from the day will go to the North Pennines Heritage Trust (NPHT) who own the site, to help keep the wonderful Historic Dilston site open to the public in these troubled financial times.

The day will include guided historical and archaeological tours of the site, guided ghost tours, stalls in the castle, a series of lectures and 'bring an artefact' sessions and will culminate in evening ghost walks and an overnight investigation into Dilston's haunted heritage.

Don't know much about Dilston but sounds like a brilliant place to go to.
I'm intrigued by this castle now  :-)

so get your butt down on the 21st and support the cause and meet the team.   Better still book yourself on the ghost tour or overnighter.  :ghostie01:

It is a wonderful place - especially in the dark!  :ghostie02:

The glacier knocks in the cupboard,
The desert sighs in the bed,
And the crack in the tea-cup opens
The lane to the land of the dead...

That would be great but not sure I'd be able to make it as the car will be in service and is out of commission for a while until I get some new parts. :spinsick:

I'll see what happens but thanks for the invite, very kind of you  :-)

A timetable to the events plus fully updated stalls/speaker list is now available from the link on the first post  :thumbyes:

Posters have been distributed throughout Hexhamshire and the Wear Valley, and a number of TICs around the North East, an article should be appearing in the local press on Thursday and there's been a fairly large web presence for the event, so fingers crossed we get lots of attendees and plenty of £££ is raised for the North Pennines Heritage Trust!  :-D
